Far, far away in a distant time... in the outer space of the universe, there were people who called themselves the Tribe of Gold. They, who created planets and had the power to forsee the future, called out to the still-primitive other tribes.
"Come forth," they said. "From the planets you were born on out into space."
Three tribes responded to their call. The Tribe of Gold called them the Silver Tribe, the Bronze Tribe, and the Heroic Tribe.
Before long, when the Tribe of Gold decided to leave this universe for another universe, a tribe that newly answered their call emerged. The fourth tribe that came out into space on its own power: humankind.
The Tribe of Gold named them the Iron Tribe.

| canon | Heroic Age
| character name | Iolaus oz Mehelim
| character age | In his 20s.
| gem | day gem
| reason | Iolaus's opinion of himself is that "I, who am [my sisters'] brother, should be something like a gloomy rain cloud." According to his friends, however, "Iolaus is a wind. A gentle and strong wind."
| wings | greenish-white pixie wings.
| personality | At the beginning of Heroic Age, Iolaus is the strict, upright captain of the Yunos Knights, a squadron of mecha pilots stationed aboard the Argonaut, a starship entrusted with transporting Princess Dhianeila of the royal Yunos family. He gives off the impression of a rulebound, detail-oriented officer who attempts to keep his personal feelings under strict control. Devoted to his duty and especially to Dhianeila, Iolaus concentrates mostly on following orders and fulfilling his responsibilities to his unit.
Unfortunately, Iolaus is also easily irritated by childish or irresponsible behavior, as well as quick to raise his voice. For this reason, Iolaus often clashes with characters like Age (who he views as an irresponsible, ignorant savage with no regard for decorum) and his younger sisters Mail and Tail (whose childishness and refusal to clean their room drives him up the wall). He is particularly jealous of Age for his close relationship with Dhianeila. Iolaus is aware of his own faults, including the impression that others have of him as a stiff, duty-bound bore -- but is unwilling or unable to do much to change his personality.
Despite his outer prickliness, however, Iolaus cares deeply for his sisters and becomes good friends with Age, who he recognizes as truly devoted to Dhianeila and her cause. Though he realizes that he and his fellow pilots are completely outclassed in the battle between humanity and its enemies, he nonetheless does his best to ensure that Age and Dhianeila have the opportunity to lead mankind to a brighter future.
While his service to mankind's fight against rival spacefaring tribes is unflinching, Iolaus also has a more personal stake in serving Dhianeila in the form of a giant crush on her -- to the point where he collects photos of her and becomes utterly flustered whenever she talks to him. Nevertheless, Iolaus never tells Dhianeila his feelings. Ever conscious of his position and increasingly aware that she has feelings for Age, Iolaus is content to step aside and admire Dhianeila from afar as an untouchable princess. Of course, if he weren't so wholeheartedly fixated on Dhianeila, he might actually notice that Dhianeila's friend Aneasha has feelings for him...
Iolaus is a soldier, and thus no stranger to war and death. As of the start of Heroic Age, humanity has been at war with the Silver and Bronze Tribes since before he was born. Iolaus has seen many of his fellow soldiers die and has killed many enemies in turn, but maintains a sense of fair conduct in war. He fights not out of hatred, but out of a wish to support Dhianeila and ensure that mankind has a place among the stars.

| abilities | Iolaus is capable of teleporting himself near-instantaneously across long distances, likely limited to distances within a solar system (for example, he can teleport easily from a ship in orbit to the surface of a planet). He can take others with him so long as they are touching them and are mentally willing to accompany him. Iolaus seems to require some basic knowledge of his destination when teleporting to unfamiliar locations, most likely as a visualization tool.
In Heroic Age, his mecha is custom-modified with a drive that allows him to teleport it and other mecha with him, but presumably he won't ever have access to this.
| inventory | His flight uniform, an energy pistol.

| amber entry | [Iolaus stared at the speaker, as if expecting something more from it. But no further instruction came. It was probably just a recorded message; to argue with it seemed pointless. He closed his eyes and spoke quickly and perfunctorily -- a bit of necessary unpleasantness that he needed to take care of, that was all it was. He would not give them the satisfaction of knowing his discomfort.]
Obviously, I am disappointed to learn of my loss. Further, the circumstances of my defeat were somewhat unpleasant.
However, I understand that this is the way most attempts proceed. I look forward to the future, in which I hope for greater success. In addition, I wish good fortune to those allies of mine that remain in the Arena. May they grasp victory with more certain hands.
[Was that... adequate? He looked around the room, then added:]
As representative of the Tribe of Iron, I, Iolaus oz Mehelim, wish to reaffirm my dedication to the cause of Princess Dhianeila and her wishes for the future of humanity. May we one day gain the wisdom and foresight of the Golden Tribe, who have seen fit to leave their knowledge to guide the powerless and the lost.
